Angama’s distinctive design breaks away from the traditional safari lodge style, which can be seen and experienced across all three safari lodges. From Angama Mara, balanced on the rim of Africa’s Great Rift Valley, to the sole-use tented Safari Camp in the midst of the action in the Mara and finally, the intimate elephant-inspired Angama Amboseli in the heart of Kimana Sanctuary.
The lodge’s remarkable setting overlooks what many safari travellers deem the finest game reserve on the continent, Kenya’s Maasai Mara. The Tented Suites stretch out over two kopjes on the edge of the escarpment. The third kopje is immediately recognisable as the site where many of the most memorable scenes from Out of Africa were filmed. Angama Mara’s architecture is filled with drama, the red brickwork inspired by local Maasai dwelling finishes.
